HEARTSPACE

A collaborative biometric, AI-generative immersive environment that renders the invisible architecture of human connection visible

A Blueprint for Human Sovereignty in the Age of AI · by Krista Kim

Transmuting cardiac rhythms into symphonic visual choreography

HEARTSPACE premiered at Art Dubai 2024 — commissioned by Julius Baer — as the first collaborative biometric, AI-generative immersive environment: a radical proposition in participatory art that renders the invisible architecture of human connection visible. Since its debut, the work has traveled to MOCO Museum London and Barcelona, manifested in a collaboration with Tiffany & Co.'s "With Love, Seoul" at Lotte World Tower, and appeared at the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Dalian.

Within an infinity-mirrored chamber, a luminous LED plane becomes the site of emergence. Four participants simultaneously interface with ECG sensors — an act of corporeal intimacy that bridges flesh and algorithm. Tenbeo's proprietary AI generates a cryptographic key pair through zero-knowledge proof: no biometric data is stored or extracted.

HEARTSPACE does not track. It does not extract. It does not steer. It listens. Your heartbeat, your breath, your living rhythms become the raw material — and the system responds, harmonizing with you in real time. You are not a data point. You are the source. That is what technology can do when it is designed to nurture rather than exploit.

We are entering a new era where AI transforms data into deeper human understanding. The most profound AI will help us navigate meaning, transforming bytes into bridges, keeping our humanity intact. This is the art of AI humanism: using data to amplify our depth and help us become more fully human. — Krista Kim

The Heart Signature

Within the installation, four distinct waveforms converge into a breathing portrait of collective presence. Each Heart Signature — derived from a zero-knowledge cryptographic key pair — manifests as a unique chromatic and kinetic identity. The underlying biometric remains cryptographically sealed: identity verified, never violated.

Beyond its phenomenological dimensions, HEARTSPACE operates as critical infrastructure for a post-surveillance age. Through zero-knowledge cryptography, the work generates non-transferable, immutable Digital IDs anchored to cardiac authentication — proof of presence without disclosure.

A heart signature is a unique biometric identifier based on the electrocardiogram (ECG) patterns produced by your heart. Unlike fingerprints, which can be lifted from surfaces, or facial recognition, which can be fooled by photographs and deepfakes, your heart's electrical signal is internal, dynamic, and impossible to replicate. It is, quite literally, your life force made digital.

A Blueprint for Human Sovereignty in the Age of AI

HEARTSPACE is not only an artwork. It is a demonstration — a living, participatory proof of what technology can look like when it is designed from entirely different principles.

Every system you interact with in your digital life today extracts something from you. Your search history, your location, your emotional responses, your attention — all of it flows outward, into databases owned by corporations you have never chosen and cannot hold accountable. HEARTSPACE refuses that logic entirely.

In HEARTSPACE, your most intimate biological signal — the electrical rhythm of your heart — is used to generate something that belongs to you: a unique, non-transferable, immutable digital identity, anchored in your living presence. It is created in the moment, for the moment, and held by no one. This is what self-sovereign identity looks like. Not a username. Not a government document. Not a biometric stored on a server. A proof of humanity that originates from within, and cannot be taken from you. — Krista Kim, Human Sovereignty in the Age of AI (2026)
01
Immersive Biometric Experience

HEARTSPACE offers a somatically engaged encounter at the convergence of zero-knowledge cryptography and aesthetic practice. Participants interface with Tenbeo's AI-driven sensors, which generate a cryptographic key pair from their cardiac rhythm — no biometric data is stored or transmitted.

02
Privacy as Aesthetic Principle

Each Heart Signature finds visual form through generative waveforms and chromatic fields that index emotional states — yet the underlying biometric remains cryptographically sealed. The installation models an alternative to extractive data regimes: identity verified, never violated.

03
Participatory Interface

Visitors engage directly with biometric sensors, offering their heartbeats as the basis for cryptographic key generation — not data capture. The act of participation becomes the act of authentication.

04
Generative Visual System

Real-time algorithmic translation of zero-knowledge key pairs into evolving digital compositions of waveform and color. Each Heart Signature is unique, ephemeral, and unrepeatable.

05
Transcendent Communication

Imagine a civilization in which every home, every community, every city is attuned to the genuine needs and preferences of the people it serves — not through surveillance, not through behavioral manipulation — but through sovereign, consensual data exchange. This is the architecture of transcendent communication between self-sovereign agentic AI systems, each one answerable to the individual it represents. HEARTSPACE is one expression of what the art of AI humanism can be: using data to amplify our depth, and to help us become more fully human.

06
Immersive Audiovisual Environment

A multisensory chamber synthesizing sound, light, and image into a unified phenomenological experience. The infinity-mirrored space dissolves the boundary between self and collective, offering a living demonstration that sovereignty and beauty are not opposites.

HEARTSPACE is where we begin: proof of life, one heartbeat at a time. The heartbeat is not a data point. It is the signal of presence itself. And presence — yours, mine, ours — is what no synthetic reality can replace. — Krista Kim

Tenbeo

tenbeo.ai

Brussels-based Tenbeo provides advanced biometric AI infrastructure rooted in cardiac authentication and zero-knowledge proof architecture. Their technology enables secure identity verification without storing or exposing sensitive biometric data — preventing unauthorized access, identity theft, and financial fraud through the irreplicable signature of the human heart.

Each document was supposed to prove who I was, but none of them were really me. What I needed was a way to show — here I am, alive, real, present. That's what inspired me to build Tenbeo: a proof of humanity that's universal, incorruptible, and cannot be taken away by politics or borders. — Athalis Kratouni · Founder & CEO, Tenbeo

Human Sovereignty in the Age of AI by Krista Kim

Human Sovereignty in the Age of AI

The machine should serve the human. Not the other way around. Artificial intelligence is the most powerful force in human history — and it is being concentrated in the hands of the few. The question this moment demands is not whether AI will transform civilization. It already has. The question is whether human civilization survives it on its own terms.

Drawing on technological solutions developed through a decade of research and the creation of HEARTSPACE in collaboration with Tenbeo, Krista Kim builds the case for a world in which identity is anchored in biology, data belongs to the individual, and technology is governed by human values rather than corporate power.

Human Sovereignty in the Age of AI is a survival guide for the species — and a blueprint for a future of Human Flourishing.

Every Heart Signature artwork in this book was generated from the unique heartbeat of a living person. These unique artworks were created at the HEARTSPACE exhibition at the MOCO Museum London in 2025. Approximately 200,000 participants globally to date.

Krista Kim

Krista Kim is a pioneering figure in ultra-contemporary art, whose practice excavates the emergent territories of digital consciousness. Her sustained inquiry into technology's transformation of perception, media ecologies, and social architectures has yielded work that operates fluidly across virtual and physical realms. Kim serves as a Cultural Leader of the World Economic Forum and Metaverse Editor of Vogue Singapore.

In 2020, Kim conceived Mars House — a virtual environment rooted in her philosophy of digital Zen — which became the first NFT digital home sold on the open market and the highest-grossing sale on SuperRare in March 2021. The work now resides in the permanent collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), marking Kim as the first female NFT artist to enter the institution's holdings.

In 2014, Kim initiated the Techism Movement, a philosophical framework recognizing technological innovation as an artistic discipline and calling upon artists to advance digital humanism within our technologically mediated culture. Her manifesto positions technology not as an instrument of extraction, but as a medium for consciousness elevation and collective flourishing.

Kim's Continuum sound and light installation illuminated Times Square across 96 screens every midnight throughout February 2022. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, and she has been recognized by UNESCO as one of '50 Minds for the Next 50.'

Her landmark work HEARTSPACE (2024), commissioned by Julius Baer, premiered at Art Dubai and is currently on tour globally. Developed in collaboration with Tenbeo, HEARTSPACE translates each participant's unique electrocardiographic rhythm into a real-time generative environment — a blueprint for Human Sovereignty in the Age of AI.
